Xlendi Cave and Reef

By nickbeeny - Posted on 31 May 2008

Xlendi cave is situated on Gozo the second largest of the Maltese Islands.

This is a shallow cave dive, with a wide sandy bottom and covered areas of sea grass. It has an abundance of marine life especially at the entrance to the cave.

The cave resembles a large tunnel and drops down from a depth of 5 metres to 12 metres as the dive progresses. The dive is completed by turning back through the tunnel to the beginning, once you have reached the end.

Xlendi Reef
Xlendi Reef is located at the end of the cave, and is a shelf made up of boulders and rock, abundant in marine life. The main feature is at the end of the reef where a pinnacle reaches up to within one metre of the surface.
