The Yucatán Peninsula is situated on the east coast of Mexico; it divides the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf of Mexico. Beneath the peninsula lies a world of freshwater-filled cave systems.
Major Diving Destination
The Yucatan Peninsula has evolved into a major diving destination for cave and cavern divers from around the worlds. The entrance to the caverns are known as Cenotes which is a corruption of the Mayan word for ‘well’.
Underground passageways
Over 160 km of underground passageways have been found in the Yucatan and the most famous Cenote of all is the Nohoch Nah Chih.
